New Books Coming in January

Check out the new books we have coming to the library this month. There are two lists now online for January, one for Fiction and one for Nonfiction. From the lists you can place holds on books of interest and we'll give you a call when the book is ready to be picked up. You can get to new book lists from other months by clicking "Good Books" on our home page and clicking the link for "Coming Soon."

New York Times Bestseller List

The updated bestseller lists are available online. Click on Fiction or Nonfiction to see all the titles the library owns that are currently on the Bestseller Lists. These lists can also be accessed from the main page by clicking "Good Books" and then "Coming Soon." Within these lists, you can see what books are in and place requests on those that are checked out so you'll be notified when they're available.

Independent Film: "El Bola"

First Friday Independent Film: El Bola, showing at the Chestertown Branch of the Kent County Public Library at 2:30 PM on January 5. Free of charge, popcorn included. 410-778-3636 for more information.

Film Summary: El Bola a.k.a. "Pellet" is a 12 year old boy raised in a violent and sordid environment. Embarrassed by his family life, he avoids becoming close to classmates. The arrival of a new boy at school changes his attitude towards his classmates, and friendship. The heart of the story is the change in El Bola's life, at almost all levels, after befriending this new classmate. Spanish Language with English Subtitles.

Holiday Closings

All branches of the Kent County Public Library will be closed on Monday, December 25 for Christmas Day and on Monday, January 1 for New Year's Day. You can still renew your items online at our catalog page under the "My Account" tab or return them in the book drop at any of our branches.
