New Movies, Music, & Audiobooks

Music CDs
Our long neglected music collection is being rejuvenated. We've just added dozens of new music CDs to the collection, both popular and classic. Check out the display on top the first fiction shelf in the Chestertown Branch. And, in case you never noticed it before, the more permanent display case for music CDs is located against one end of the same shelf.

Online Music
We now provide music that can be streamed or downloaded from online through Alexander Street Press. Listening at home or in the library is paid for by the library for library card holders. You can even create your own playlists online for free. Downloading is a small fee to you. We offer the "Classical Music Library," "Smithsonian Global Sound" collection of folk music, and the "African American Song" collection. Please let us know what you think of this new service, so we can better evaluate its worth to our patrons. From our home page, click the "Music" image, to get here.

Audiobooks
We've also added more than 50 new audiobook titles in the past few weeks, and they're going like hotcakes. These are hot off the press popular fiction and non-fiction titles, read aloud for you on CD. The quality and popularity of this format has greatly increased in the last few years. If you haven't tried a book on CD recently or at all, give it a shot and see what the buzz is all about. They're great for long car trips or for the busy person working on other things.

DVDs
Last, but not least, we continue to offer popular movies and TV series on DVD. Many are available as early as their first day released on DVD. And we're adding to our collection of educational DVDs as well. Check with us before buying or renting. Our borrowing period for DVDs is a full week, with extensions possible when no one else is waiting.

Finding It All
We put many of the new items on display, so browsing in the branches is very popular. But you can also look for titles in the online catalog, and place holds if desired. You can search from our regular catalog page, but you may find you prefer to use the special search feature which is designed to allow you to browse Movie, Music, and Audiobook titles, or perform a power search for more precise control of your search results and limit by format. Another popular option is to click the Good Books link on our home page. This takes you to regularly updated lists of the latest additions to our various collections including Fiction, Nonfiction, Biography, Large Print, Audio Books, DVDs, and Music, as well as a list of items Coming Soon (purchased but not yet arrived).

Enjoy!
