New Online Library Catalog
As of Wednesday, June 4, the Kent County Public Library's online catalog has been updated, along with the software the staff uses for checking items in and out. The new catalog is at http://catalog.kentcountylibrary.org/ where you can search for books or access your account to see what items you have out or to extend your due dates.
We're excited about these changes and feel that in the long run they will be a benefit to both staff and patrons. In the short term, this will mean some minor changes to get used to, but fear not, library staff are standing by to answer your questions or help you if you run into problems. Please do not hesitate to ask. We want to make this transition as easy for you as possible.
For those more technically inclined and curious, the new system is called Evergreen and is an open source library automation system. We are proud to be the first public library in Maryland using an open source automation system. More information about Evergreen is available at http://open-ils.org/ for those interested, or your library staff would be happy to answer any questions. Special thanks go to the Friends of the Library who helped to fund this project, and to the people at Equinox Software and Alpha-G Consulting who set up the new system, migrated our data, and will be providing support.
