The Role of Libraries in Economic Hard Times

The Diane Rehm show on NPR this morning raised some excellent points about the important role libraries play in their communities, particularly in difficult economic times. To listen to the broadcast online or view a transcript, click here. Like the libraries mentioned in the broadcast, Kent County Public Library offers our community books and so much more - DVDs, audiobooks, cultural events, children's programs, information services, a meeting space, and free computer and WiFi access just to name a few.

And like other libraries, our satisfied customers are our best advocates. We appreciate our patrons who have told friends, family, and the county officials who make decisions impacting our funding how much you enjoy the services we offer. We also appreciate those patrons who visit or help out with the Friends of the Library book sale. And of course, we appreciate the help of those patrons who support us through our annual funding drive. Thank you.
