The Heart of Maryland Libraries Quilt

quilt.jpg

The Heart of Maryland Libraries Quilt will be on display in the Chestertown Branch from January 27th through February 8th. This beautiful work of art was conceived by Margaret Carty, Executive Director of the Maryland Library Association, and created by staff from 27 libraries in Maryland.

"The MLA quilt 'The Heart of Maryland Libraries' is a visible statement of the unity of Maryland libraries, public, academic, school, special and state. Volunteers from around the state contributed their time and creativity to produce a diverse selection of quilt squares which, when joined together, convey the message of unity," said
Margaret Carty.

There is a scrapbook on display with the quilt that provides additional information and discusses each of the squares in detail, as well as a guest book for signatures and comments.

We hope you'll take the time to admire this beautiful quilt and symbol of the unity of Maryland Libraries while it's here on display. And if you have the time, stop by on February 8th for a presentation by Karen Trennepohl, project coordinator, on the story behind the quilt, followed by a dessert reception. Details are available in our online calendar.
